There are so many different hardware and software combinations in the environment that it is more than just a little likely that some update may conflict. I believe the SoC / CPU SATA controller doesnt have a specialized driver, but the chipset controller does. The AMD driver doesnt actually seem to bring any benefits over the default driver. I must say that I was enjoying reading this thread and at no point thought you were being treated like an idiot.
